Lithuania has very old traditions in growing flax and weaving highest quality line fabric. At some point of time linen fabric was the only fabric available in Lithuania to make home textiles and clothes. So roots of expertise and love for linen fabric go way back beyond our business story.
Our grandmother Zuzana Raudiene started to weave linen fabric and make linen items for home back in 1935. The weaving looms she used back then we still use today to make our signature hand woven placemats.
Her daughter Felicija Dauksiene worked for linen mill as head of manufacturing for 25 years during soviet times. Lithuanian independence opened up new opportunities for entrepreneurial minds and Felicija together with husband Romas decided to start their own business and established “Linomeda” in 1996 in Plunge, Lithuania. Felicija’s extensive experience, Romas engineering skills, professional staff and continuous focus on quality helped “Linomeda” to grow and build image of a trustworthy business partner.
Felicija’s daugthters Giedre and Inga joined Linomeda after graduating universities with degrees in textiles design and management. Giedre is leading Linomeda’s manufacturing unit today and Inga is head of design and sales.
Having started with our first international customer in Denmark (Jorgen Hoyer) back in 1996, today “Linomeda” serves clients in more than 60 countries around the world. Starting from 1999, “Linomeda” successfully participates in home textile trade shows around the world: Frankfurt, Paris, New York and Milan.
